During a one-month-long art residency at De Nijverheid in Utrecht, together with composer and sound designer Maaike Moens, I engaged in experimentations bringing the art forms of ceramics and sound together while incorporating natural elements such as water and earth pigments. The outcome installation of this short residency explores the impact of sound waves on water, exploring diverse aspects of frequencies, tempo, volume, timbre, rhythms, and the interplay of sound versus silence. In this collaboration, we suggest a piece of music is not only pleasant to listen to but also unfolds as a visually compelling experience —what you see isn’t always what you hear, and what you hear isn’t always what you see.
